Carla R. Sovernigo is a dynamic leader in British Columbia’s aquatic construction industry and currently serves as Co-Owner and President of ALKA POOL. Growing up in the family business, Carla developed her passion for pools early on, learning the industry from the ground up alongside her father.  She is a GENESIS® Master Certified Pool Builder & Design Professional (PHTA-MCBP) and holds a technical diploma in Real Estate & Marketing from the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT). Carla oversees commercial sales, legal, finance, and marketing, and has contributed her expertise to the Marketing and Education boards of the Master Pools Guild.

Her interests in travel, architecture, and world cultures, combined with her diverse professional and educational background, give Carla a unique blend of business acumen and creative vision. Her commitment to lifelong learning and giving back to the global community is central to her leadership style.

A recognized industry leader, Carla is a past Chairman of the Master Pools Guild and was the first woman to serve on its board of directors. Her dedication to excellence and innovation has helped Alka Pool earn numerous national and international awards.  Carla’s dedication to quality craftsmanship, integrity, and client satisfaction continues to set industry standards, making her a driving force in shaping the future of pool & hot tub design and construction.

With a lifelong passion for designing and building exceptional aquatic environments, Rafaelle Sovernigo is Co-Owner and the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of ALKA POOL. As a GENESIS® Master Certified Pool Building & Design Professional (PHTA-MCBP), Rafaelle brings both technical expertise and creative vision to every project.

Having officially joined the company full-time in 1993, Rafaelle has been an integral part of the team since a young age. Armed with an Associate of Science degree, he combines formal education with decades of hands-on experience in the swimming pool construction industry. For him, “Every pool, spa, site and customer are unique in their own way, and all present an exciting challenge to build a new work of beauty.”

Rafaelle leads a team renowned for its superior craftsmanship and attention to detail. Known for a hands-on approach, he believes that no job is too small and is always willing to roll up his sleeves to ensure each project meets the highest standards of quality and integrity. He is admired by his colleagues and clients alike for his respectful attitude, genuine care and steadfast support of others as well as commitment to giving back to the community, reflecting ALKA POOL’s longstanding tradition of responsible corporate citizenship and active community engagement.

Amedeo was the VP of Operations since 1965, co-owning the company with his brother Larry from 1971 to 2008. His industry experience goes back to 1959; a master craftsman overseeing the building of our projects. Known for his attention to detail and high standards in pool construction, Amedeo monitored every phase of the swimming pool, from excavation to finishing and has mentored many of our current Team members. Together Amedeo and Larry built over 1500 swimming pools throughout BC, making ALKA POOL the leading pool construction company in the province of British Columbia.

With over 50 years of construction experience and a European commitment to craftsmanship, Larry (Ilario) was the driving force behind ALKA POOL becoming the leader that it is today. He purchased what was then a small swimming pool construction company from his brother in 1971; Larry immediately introduced procedures that would make a good product and service even better. He joined the Master Pools Guild in 1978, achieving new levels of excellence and industry recognition. Under his visionary leadership, ALKA POOL flourished and developed a reputation for quality that is the best in BC.  Larry continues to be a vital part of ALKA POOL as consultant for the Commercial and Special Projects division.

Rob has been with ALKA POOL for over 35 years as our Senior Estimator and Salesman. Our customers value both his experience and his enthusiasm. With a background in engineering and a passion for pool design, he enjoys the creative potential inherent in any project. “It’s exciting to collaborate with the Customer, Architect, Landscape Designer and Builder to create the best pool possible every time.” Integrity drives his approach to customer service, and he’s proud to be part of an organization that sees its promises through to reality.

Robert manages ALKA POOL’s projects, with organizational abilities that ensure your pool is built to our highest standards. With a Bachelor of Science from UBC, he brings experience from various organizations as BC Tel, Stentor Resources Inc., and WCB. Managing ALKA POOL’s projects allows him to watch the customers’ dream unfold every step of the way. His personal goal is to make each client’s experience a pleasure from start to finish.

Nerea, a dynamic and passionate professional in the Sales & Estimates department, joined the ALKA POOL team in 2023. Originally from Basque Country (Spain), Nerea brings a unique blend of cultural warmth and expertise to every project, ensuring each client’s vision is transformed into a stunning backyard oasis. A natural people person, Nerea is known for her friendly personality and exceptional ability to connect with clients. Her intelligence, organizational skills, and knack for thinking outside the box makes her a trusted partner in guiding customers through the pool-building process.

Peter, originally from Mexico, joined the ALKA POOL Team in 2022, bringing his talent, dedication, and professionalism to his role as Project Manager.  With a strong focus on organization and efficiency, Peter excels at leveraging cutting-edge technology to streamline project scheduling and ensure seamless communication with clients, contractors, and team members.  Whether coordinating diverse teams or solving on-site challenges, Peter consistently delivers projects on time and with high-quality standards.

Immersed in the family business’s operations from an early age, Linda developed a strong understanding of its values and processes. Her journey began with small tasks around the office and evolved into managing marketing initiatives and coordinating high-level administrative functions. As the Marketing Director & Executive Assistant, she is known for her exceptional organizational skills and ability to wear many hats. From developing a comprehensive safety program to managing administrative operations, marketing strategies, software troubleshooting and employee training, she thrives in dynamic environments. Her passion for collaboration and team building fosters a positive workplace culture and ensures that every team member feels supported and empowered.

Ginny joined the ALKA POOL team in June of 2020. As the office “HUB”, her responsibilities encompass many aspects of our business, including managing the accounts payables, overseeing customer service, and ordering.
