Elevated Dual Sanctuary Estate
Alka Pool
The Project
Luxury living reaches a new scale in this vast estate, where a dramatic outdoor flood edge pool is paired with an intimate indoor spa retreat for year‑round enjoyment.
Anchoring the expansive terrace, the main pool is designed as a grand focal point with a 34’0″ long infinity edge that drops 6’0″ to a lower garden level, creating a striking water wall effect against the landscape. A generous baja shelf invites relaxed lounging at the water’s edge, while the inset whirlpool, finished in matching monsoon glass tile, appears to float seamlessly within the main pool.
Ten discreet uplights illuminate the infinity trough after dark, transforming the falling water into a ribbon of light that visually extends the pool into the surrounding gardens. Fire pedestals at the end of the pool introduce a sculptural flame element, playing off the reflective charcoal plaster finish and glass tile band for a refined, contemporary aesthetic.
A rich charcoal plaster interior serves as the backdrop for the calm reflective surface of the water, emphasizing the clean geometry of the flood edge design. The perimeter tile band in monsoon glass tile adds a subtle shimmer at the waterline, tying into the fully tiled inset whirlpool for a cohesive look between pool and spa.
The raised infinity wall itself becomes a feature when viewed from the lower pathway, where the falling sheet of water and the glow from the uplights create a dynamic, resort‑style atmosphere that can be appreciated from multiple vantage points on the property.
Inside the residence, a secondary pool and whirlpool combination offers a private wellness retreat framed by rustic brick arches and timber ceilings. Clad in a 2″ x 2″ Icestix Evening Glass and River Rock tile combination, the water takes on deep jewel tones that contrast beautifully with the textured stone and brick surroundings. Linear accents in a 0.5″ x 3″ format of the Evening Glass colour trace the edges of the pool and whirlpool, adding a refined detail that subtly defines each zone within the compact footprint.
A Hydramatic automatic cover protects the indoor pool when not in use, preserving both water quality and energy efficiency while maintaining the sleek deck lines.
Set just off to the side, a dedicated cold plunge completes the spa‑inspired program of the lower level. Finished entirely in the 0.5″ x 3″ Evening Glass tile, this smaller vessel has an elevated, jewel‑box quality that distinguishes it from the main indoor pool while still tying into the overall palette.
The combination of warm, tactile architecture and cool, glass‑tiled waterscapes creates a layered experience: invigorating swims, restorative soaks, and bracing plunges all contained within the privacy of the home. Together with the dramatic outdoor flood edge pool and spa, this estate offers a holistic aquatic environment that is as visually compelling as it is indulgent to use in every season.
