The Project
This outdoor living space has both an upper and lower patio attached to the home as well as a mini retreat further along the pier. The upper patio is like a sleek hotel resort that promotes health and well being while the lower patio features an area for late night chats and long awaited get togethers.
As soon as you walk into this resort like home, one is greeted with an incredible view. The open concept layout is further extended with Nano doors that line the entire back wall, opening onto a stunning outdoor oasis. A custom blend colour plaster in the swimming pool matches so perfectly that a seamless edge is created against the adjacent glacial fjord, creating an endless horizon.
For the owners, this gorgeous home is their remote sanctuary where they can enjoy their recent retirement. It is the opposite of their one level house overseas that looks over a golf course. Here on the beautiful hills of Belcarra overlooking the serene landscape (Indian Arm, glacial fjord adjacent to the city of Vancouver) they find peace; a place for both relaxing and recharging. Seen here, is the owner enjoying some downtime with her sisters while relaxing in the infinity pool.
On the upper patio the infinity edge pool is the star of the show with its inviting shade of blue. At nighttime white LED lights turn the color plaster into a royal blue that beckons one to indulge in a late-night swim. A bench on two sides of the pool allows one to comfortably admire the incredible vista.
The pool glass tile band, in a winter blues blend, allows for a subtle transition from the cool tones of the deck to the rich midnight blue plaster. A brighter tile, waterfall, was chosen to line the steps and bench edge. Though high contrast for safety reasons, it is still subtle enough to fit the serene theme of the upper lounge area.
The lower patio features a 40’0” wide infinity edge with an overall drop of 6’0”. The eye is drawn to this stunning water feature as it is tiled in a dark truffle colored Relate Flame 12” x 24” porcelain tile. Color changing LED mini lights highlight the infinity edge at nighttime adding a sense of whimsy and cheer. To further enhance this waterfront patio, a warm and cozy fire pit is surrounded by bright red lounge chairs.
To protect this jewel all year long, an automatic Hydramatic pool cover in a subtle charcoal gray was chosen.
